Research / Transdisciplinary groups

This year we once again organised the Women in Data Science – Barcelona Biomedicine event, which is part of a series of global conferences to promote diversity and leadership of women in STEM. The 2022 event involved 23 female speakers from academia, start-ups and industry, 109 on-site attendees and more than 770 online views.

We established a scientific consultancy with the start-up Newborn Solutions for the early and non-invasive detection of meningitis in newborn babies using deep learning combined with ultrasound technology.

We are also leading tasks or work packages in two large European-funded projects launched this year: TOLIFE (artificial intelligence and smart sensing for better management and quality of life in COPD) and END-VOC (monitoring COVID-19 variants of concern through cohort studies).
